Mt Bierstadt (14,060’) - October 15, 2010
(click pictures to enlarge)
Rollin and I climbed Mt. Bierstadt using the standard West Slopes route. Another cloudless day made for cool temps. We started hiking at 8:30 a.m. with a temperature of 28°F and no wind.
The boardwalks across the willows sparkled in the bright
sun.

A race with the sun left us in the shadows as we headed
east towards the start of the climb.

Snow started to cover the trail around 12,500'

We hiked on a snow packed trail on the north slopes.

A close up of Mt Bross, Mt Lincoln, Mt Democrat, and
Quandary Peak.

Looking north, Longs Peak (far right) and RMNP.

Looking south at the Mosquito range and south park.

We reached the summit just before noon.

We found a great lunch spot just below the summit where
Rollin swapped socks, dried his shoes and we ate lunch. We had the summit
to ourselves for 30 minutes.
